Theatre Management

Theatrical Management trains all interested in working as managers behind the scenes of movies, TV shows, and live performances.

Students will learn organizational skills within show production, management skills with juggling cast and crew members, and book-working skills throughout the production process.

There may be an after-school commitment to working with HHS Drama on select productions as an acting assistant or central stage manager. 

Directing

Directing, offered by HHS Drama, gives students the opportunity to student-direct productions at HHS.

Those enrolled will learn how to select plays, collaborate with a stage manager, audition actors, cast a show, run rehearsals, create a directing concept, complete post-production work, block staging in different arena spaces, cue shows with cohesive concepts from design staff, and interview as aspiring directors to local theaters with a portfolio.

There may be an after-school commitment to producing shows through HHS Drama, all of which can be applied to a resume and college applications. 

Stagecraft

Stagecraft is an introduction to the learning and application of theatrical design.

Students will choose a design focus (Choices are lighting, sound, set, and costume design), create designs based on script examples, maintain a design portfolio, participate in interviews for design positions, and master the technical aspects of their focus's tools.

Participation with HHS Drama for the course duration will count as work/resume-applicable experience and community service hours. An after-school commitment may be required.


Drama

Students will learn about drama and theatre in all of its aspects. Through improvisation, memorized scenes, and creative performances, students will learn about concentration, observation, sensory recall, and emotional responses. Students will hone their creativity through performance, writing, and critique. They will also study stage directions and terms, movement, acting techniques, and theories.

This class final will involve auditioning, rehearsing, and performing in two theatre festivals. All students enrolled are required to participate.

Advanced Theatre

This course is an in-depth study of all phases of the acting process. Students will learn to analyze characters, analyze plays, and do dramatic criticism. Students will have a chance to work on playwriting, directing, experimental theatre, dialects, and more.

This class final will involve auditioning, rehearsing, and performing in two theatre festivals. All students enrolled are required to participate. May require an after-school time commitment.

Musical Theatre

This course is an in-depth study of the history and production of musical theatre. Students will learn the difference between lead and character voice while using music to express objectives, emotions, and dramatic themes in story-telling.

This class final will involve auditioning, rehearsing, and performing in two theatre festivals. All students enrolled are required to participate in singing and dancing, from beginning to advanced techniques. May require an after-school time commitment.
